The Christmas lights in Londons famous Regent Street were turned on last night in a star-studded event to celebrate the start of the festive season and the UK release of Arthur Christmas .
Pop singers Matt Cardle and Kelly Clarkson, who both performed on stage in front of a packed crowd, were joined by actress Ashley Jensen and actor Bill Nighy, from the film Arthur Christmas, and Heart DJ Emma Bunton.
Arthur Christmas is a upcoming 3-D fantasy comedy. Set on Christmas night, the story revolves around Santa Claus's high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole with his family and son Arthur.
When a present for a little girl is missed, Arthur must go on a mission with Grandsanta and elf Byrony to deliver it before Christmas morning.
The animation, which is released at cinemas on Friday (November 11), stars a host of British and American famous names including Nighy and Jensen, who play the voices of Grandsanta and Bryony, James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Robbie Coltrane and Dominic West.
