Scunthorpe Santa Run To Raise Money For Xmas Charity

The residents of Scunthorpe can play their part in helping raise funds for a Christmas charity by taking part in next month’s Santa Run.

On December 7, participants will run around Scunthorpe's Brumby Hall sports ground and Central Park in their red and white Santa suits . Under-12s taking part will also receive an elf hat.

The When You Wish Upon A Star charity hopes to raise thousands of pounds to help fund its annual Christmas trip, which sees local youngsters suffering with terminal and lifelong illnesses taken to meet Father Christmas in Lapland .

This year's run follows on from the success of previous Santa events, which have raised thousands for the organisation since 2006.

The charity's co-ordinator Joanne Kernon said: "We would urge as many people as possible to join us on our Santa Run as the more people that take part, the more children we can whisk away to Santa's winter wonderland."

Entry fees are £10 for adults and £5 for children, with the Santa suits included. Application forms are available online at Thesantarun.co.uk or by calling (01472) 827100.
