Pop stars McFly had the honour of switching on this years Christmas lights in Londons Regent Street to the delight of over 50,000 people.
The lights went on at 6.50pm from a stage at the junction of New Burlington Street and Regent Street, with a stars theme. The lights have been designed using energy-efficient lights .
Dougie Paynter, bass guitarist with the band said, "It was awesome and there was so many people there to see it.
"So many great people have done it before. When we did it there was a plaque saying who had done it in the past and there was people like Sir Anthony Hopkins and members of the Royal Family .
"I think the lights are going to look really cool."
Previous years has seen an array of celebrities switching the lights on some of whom were Diana, Princess of Wales, Kylie Minogue and Franki Dettori. The switch on tradition dates back to 1954.
