Oxfam has launched a new service online promoting Christmas gifts and products. The website www.oxfam.org.uk/gifts shows the range of gifts, decoration ideas and Christmas cards under the heading Gifts That Give Twice.
During Christmas 2004 Oxfam sold over 14 million Christmas cards, 60,000 diaries and 10,000 belly dancing kits through its network of 750 shops. It is hoped that the website will be even more popular and increase the figures for this Christmas.
Chris Coe, Trading Director of Oxfam, said, "This new website is an exciting development for us. Online shopping is an everyday activity now, and were looking forward to making our Christmas range available to those who want to support us, but dont have the time to visit one of our shops."
Oxfam's online shop features eight categories of gifts:
Christmas Cards Choose from nineteen designs, ranging from contemporary winter images to fine art traditional Christmas scenes.
Festive Food Just some of Oxfam's delicious Fair Trade chocolate and biscuit range.
Toy Box - Eleven colourful hand crafted toys for children to enjoy.
Gifts Has a range of 20 items such as the Fair Trade Feast Cookbook featuring recipes by celebrities, CDs, wooden puzzles and stationery.
Fair Trade Gifts - A selection of 23 gifts showing that Fair Trade is not just about coffee, but also includes chocolate, wooden puzzles and gifts.
Diaries and Calendars - Eleven gifts ideal for home and work.
Stocking Fillers - A selection of 18 quirky gifts for all ages.
Home Decoration - Twelve stylish home ware items to create the perfect festive scene this Christmas.
Another reason for using Oxfams website is that items will be sent free of charge. What Oxfam will ask for is a donation towards the cost of postage. Items are sent of a next working day delivery basis. Once an order has been placed, it will be confirmed by email and Christmas orders must be received by 18 December to ensure items will be delivered on time. All items are supplied according to Oxfams Ethical Purchasing Policy.
